Privacy policy
This policy names every third party the pages actually load and every storage key this site writes. Analytics, session recording and advertising start on the first page view; the banner tells you so and Reject turns them off for 180 days.
Who is responsible
The operator of ocarinaoftime.org can be reached at [email protected]. That is the address for access, correction, and deletion requests about this site. For data Adsterra or Microsoft holds on its own systems, use the contact route each company publishes below.
What loads on the first page view
There is no stored choice on a first visit, so the page treats you as granted and loads Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity, the Adsterra Native Banner and the Adsterra Social Bar without waiting for a click. YouTube is requested separately when you press play on the trailer. The banner appears on the first visit. Pressing Reject stores the refusal for 180 days and refreshes the page to stop code that has already run; the next document starts with analytics measurement, recording and advertising disabled.
If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, the page records Reject instead of loading the recording and advertising scripts. A stored Reject also disables Google Analytics measurement before its configuration runs. The choice can be changed at any time with Cookie settings in the footer.
Storage on your browser
This site writes two first-party localStorage keys. The third-party services write their own cookies on their own domains.
| Key | Where | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| oot_consent | local storage | Your Accept or Reject choice, with an expiry timestamp | 180 days |
| oot_socialbar_closed | local storage | Keeps the Adsterra Social Bar hidden after you close it | 180 days, then the bar can return |
| _ga | cookie | Google Analytics 4 client identifier | 2 years |
| _ga_2FYDTFXSY2 | cookie | Google Analytics 4 session state for this stream | 2 years |
| _clck | cookie | Microsoft Clarity user identifier | about 1 year |
| _clsk | cookie | Microsoft Clarity session identifier | about 1 day |
| CLID, MUID | cookie | Microsoft identifiers used by Clarity | about 1 year |
| Adsterra cookies | third-party cookie or local storage on Adsterra and bicea.org domains | Frequency capping, impression and click measurement, and interest-based ad selection | Set and retained by Adsterra under its own policy |
| VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE, YSC, PREF | cookie | Set by YouTube only when you press play on the trailer | Session to about 8 months, per Google |
Google Analytics 4
Google Analytics 4 runs through the Google tag (gtag.js) loaded from www.googletagmanager.com, with measurement ID G-2FYDTFXSY2 in GA4 property 562125610. It receives the page URL, your IP address, browser and device information, and interactions such as page views and outbound clicks, and writes the _ga and _ga_2FYDTFXSY2 cookies so it can tell sessions apart. Consent Mode v2 starts with analytics_storage granted and the three advertising signals denied; only an explicit Accept grants all four signals. Reject moves all four to denied and disables measurement, including on later visits; ads_data_redaction is on. Google retains event data for the retention period configured on the property, up to 14 months. Google's policy is at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Microsoft Clarity
Microsoft Clarity runs with project ID z7prmkmw6x. The tag is requested from www.clarity.ms, pulls scripts.clarity.ms, and reports page views, clicks, scroll depth and session recordings to *.clarity.ms. Clarity masks text entered into form fields by default, and this site provides email contact rather than a contact form. It writes the first-party cookies _clck, _clsk, CLID and MUID so it can keep a session together. Playback data is retained for 30 days and click and heatmap data for 9 months; Microsoft's policy is at https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement.
Adsterra
Adsterra is the advertising network behind the two ad units on this site: the in-feed Native Banner (unit 32065477, NativeBanner_1) and the floating Social Bar (unit 32065478, SocialBar_1), under publisher ID 3403020 and website ID 6171378. Adult ads are switched off in the publisher panel, and this site runs no Popunder, Banner or Smartlink unit. The unit loaders are created on the first page view and come from bicea.org; creative and measurement requests go to Adsterra's ad domains. Adsterra receives your IP address, browser and device information, the page URL, and what you do with an ad, and it may set cookies or local storage on its own domains for frequency capping, measurement and interest-based advertising. Adsterra controls that retention; its policy is at https://adsterra.com/privacy-policy-managed/.
To limit interest-based advertising in your browser generally, use Google Ads Settings (https://adssettings.google.com), the DAA opt-out (https://optout.aboutads.info) and Your Online Choices (https://www.youronlinechoices.com). Reject in this site's banner is the direct opt-out here: it removes the ad units instead of only switching them to non-personalized mode.
YouTube trailer
The trailer is a poster image until you press play. Pressing play creates an iframe to www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed and that request can set YouTube cookies under Google's policy, including VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE, YSC and PREF. YouTube receives your IP address and browser information; we do not receive its playback data. If you press Reject, the trailer stays a poster image and no YouTube iframe is created.
Hosting and email
Cloudflare provides hosting and email routing for this domain. A request to this first-party domain necessarily sends your IP address and HTTP request information to the host. We do not run Cloudflare Web Analytics or add its beacon. Mail to [email protected] is routed through Cloudflare Email Routing to the mail-hub Worker for our editorial mailbox. Send only what is needed for a correction or a privacy request, not passwords, account tokens or private player data. Outbound links to Nintendo, YouTube and news sites leave this site; those sites set their own cookies.
Legal basis and your rights
- This site requests analytics, session recording and advertising by default as described above. An automatic first visit is not an affirmative Accept: the three advertising consent signals remain denied until you click Accept. Reject disables these integrations and stores your preference for 180 days.
- The page itself, the self-hosted typefaces and the images are served on the basis of our legitimate interest in publishing the guide (Article 6(1)(f)); they set no cookie.
- You can ask for access, correction, deletion or a copy of the personal data we hold, and you can object to processing. Email [email protected]. For data Adsterra or Microsoft holds, use the links above.
- You can complain to your local data-protection authority. Do not send personal information about children; if you believe such information has reached us, write so it can be removed.
- Do Not Track is not a reliable switch in most browsers. Global Privacy Control is honored as Reject.
Changes
If a third party is added or removed, this page and the checked date change in the same release as the script, before it ships. The date under Sources is the date this policy was checked against the build.
Questions
Do you run ads?
Yes. Adsterra serves one in-feed Native Banner and one floating Social Bar. Adult ads are off and there is no Popunder, Banner or Smartlink unit. Reject removes both units and remembers the choice for 180 days.
Do analytics and session recording run before I choose?
Yes. With no stored choice the page treats you as granted, so Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity load on the first page view. The banner explains this; Reject stops both and records the refusal for 180 days.
How do I change my cookie choice?
Use Cookie settings in the footer. Reject stores a denied choice for 180 days and refreshes the page so the ad units, recording and measurement are disabled before they initialize again. The trailer remains a poster until you change the choice.
