2011 Ocarina of Time 3DS release date
Ocarina of Time 3D is the 2011 remake by Grezzo, not the 2026 Switch 2 game by Nintendo EPD Production Group No. 3. Japan was June 16, 2011. Nintendo’s European product page gives June 17. Wikipedia instead lists June 16. North America was June 19. Australia was June 30.

The Europe date stays split
Nintendo’s European product listing and its 2011 announcement give June 17. Nintendo Life’s contemporary report agrees. Wikipedia’s current infobox instead lists June 16. The official June 17 listing is the date to use for Europe; the Wikipedia discrepancy remains visible here.
What that cartridge added
- Grezzo developed it. The 2026 team is a different group inside Nintendo EPD.
- About 30 frames per second, against about 20 on the Nintendo 64 original.
- Glasses-free stereoscopic 3D, a touch screen for items, and gyro aiming.
- Master Quest unlocks after the main quest, with a mirrored world and double damage.
- Boss Challenge can be played one boss at a time or in sequence. The Master Quest bosses hit harder.
Language and the closed shop
Separate English and Japanese 3DS releases exist. Zelda Wiki’s translation page lists those releases. Nintendo’s European product page lists English, German, French, Spanish and Italian, without Japanese. A Japanese menu option on other English-region cartridges is unresolved in the sources here. The 3DS eShop stopped new purchases on March 27, 2023. A download you already bought can still be re-downloaded. A new buyer needs a second-hand cartridge.
How this version sits next to 1998 and 2026 is on differences. Master Quest rules are on that page.
